Sauce

Staged it with a shake of dried and pulverized herbs over the top? Well done; this photo has excellent depth. People who don't do this often would be surprised at how difficult it can be to stage things like this correctly. Even though it's probably accidental (even if it isn't, it looks as if it is which is a good thing!) the spice lining up in a fairly neat, curving row below that higher mound of sauce and behind that little 'ridge' of sauce to its front looks good. I don't know why I noticed that.

So to reiterate: Great angle and depth on the subject. Great control of the light, too, this looks very natural. Not too processed, very at ease and homey. Ideal for a cookbook illustration; at least the kind of cookbook I prefer, none of that avante garde shite with the molecular gastronomy and so on.
